Merry Christmas

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas. Brian decided to work to let his co-workers have the day off and be home with there children. So that gives me the time to blog and wish you a Merry Christmas.

It has been very interesting week. On Saturday it started to snow and I was very lucky that the customer service had booked rooms at a hotel room and I was able to stay in one. On Sunday morning I had to be at work at 0430, but since no flights were making it out I didn't have to be there until 0530. This is what I saw when I finally got to my office. The window has a lay a of ice on it and my car had ice and snow all over it.

Sunday I was able to stay again at the hotel and I did not have to drive home and back to work at 0430. I really wanted to go home but I'm glad that I didn't because around 1100 the snow started again and did not stop. So when I got to work on Monday this is what my car looked like. They finally came and plowed our parking lot after small FedEx trucks and hotel vans keep getting stuck in front of our office. Now they just piled the snow taking up parking spots. They were unable to clear it all so when you pull in you look for a spot that does not have high snow drifts.

When I finally made it home on Monday this is what I came home too. This is the walk way up to my front door. The worst part of my drive was getting in and of my house to the main roads. They keep them clear so we all can make to work and back home again. The rain finally showed up yesterday but it is making it worse out there in front of our house. Now we are getting standing water all over the place.

I hope every one is staying save and warm and everyone is having a wonderful Christmas

Snow Snow go away

I'm very thank you that today is my day off and I have the next few days off. I feel really bad for any one that would have to go out and drive in this weather. I was very thankful that on Sunday things were not as bad as today. I had my favorite shift that day 0430 and was glad that the main road were good. I was able to get to work ontime and so did all the flight attendants YAH. When I got home this is what I came home to. Now today is totally different, like the rest of Western Washington it is still snowing here.
Now I have to wait until Saturday night to see what Sunday is like. I get to play supervisor on Sunday and Monday and I get to start at 0430 again. I hope the roads are better then than it is today.
I hope everyone is ready for Christmas. I'm not. I still have to get to the Post Office to get a package out in the mail. I don't think that I will make it today, I hope maybe tomorrow. I finally was able to get pictures to load so I have added a picture of the Christmas tree.
As for the knitting I'm having a problems. I've tried a pattern twice and I can't seem to get going on it. I have the perfect day to try and start knitting. Off to get a pattern and yarn to start a new project. So I will sign off for now everyone stay safe and warm.

try again

Last night I had a new post typed up and was going to add pictures to it and it would not let me add pictures. Then the next thing I know everything that I had typed was gone. I gave up and went on to another websit and played. So here we are at it again.

The first major thing is that I got a pair of sock knitted up and all done. On the road to Denmark are done. I finished them on Thursday as we were out and about. This pair is going to my mother-in-law for part of her Christmas present. I know I can post pictures due to the fact she doesn't know I have a blog. So now that I'm done with that pair I have to think of what to make next and for who.

On Thursday as Brian and I were running around, he was really nice and took me two different yarn stores. The first one we went to is the one I always go to is Renaissance Yarns in Kent. As Brian was parking I noticed that the shop was emptied out and a note on the door. All it said was that they had moved to Kent Station. I was happy to know that they didn't go out of business, but just moved. The second one we went and visited was Yorkshire Yarns in Lakewood. Another wonderful yarn store that carries the sock yarn that I love.
Before we left Thursday I put up our Christmas tree. Now I get to sit here in the dark and look at the tree and be all merry. Not much else has been happening around here. I've been in my room sew away making sock project bags. Maybe one of these day I will start a store on Etsy and sell them and pay for my bad habit of sock yarn and now fabric. Here are a couple that I got done yesterday. Ok you will have to wait until next time it won't let me add any more pictures. So until next time be happy and knit away.

blogging from work

I thought I would give this a try. I figured that I spend more time here on this computer at work than I do with the one at home. So I'm sitting here at work updating my blog when I should be doing some work. So here is what I've been doing lately. I've made a few hats and gloves and I'm tired of them for right now. I started working on a sock again. The pattern is from Nancy Bush Knitting on the Road book and it called Denmark. I'm using Miss Bags: "Yummy Hand-painted sport & sock yarn in Suede Rose. Lets just say its another United sock, I think I've knitted most of it right here in my chair.
Right behind my sock is one of my new sock project bags that I got made on my last day off. I've got a lot made and maybe one day I will start selling them on-line who knows.
Ok I have to do a flash back here. The song that is playing on my Ipod right now is Pink Cadillac from Bruce Springsteen. It takes me back to Macy's in New York City doing my music video to that song. I'm glad that song is over now its onto the Muppet Movie "I hope something better comes along".
I've got to go now, its 1900 and now I have work to do. Have to start get the paper work done for tomorrow morning so see who will be checking in. I hope you all have a wonderful Turkey day. I hope my turkey won't still be frozen on Thursday. Until next time keep smiling and stay stay safe.

New Hobbie

Lets start by saying that Brian and I went up to Sumas to visit my Mom and Dad. We had an early Thanksgiving dinner and I got a sewing lesson. Bev started making sock project bags and she had made me two. I was thinking and thinking in my head that I could make those, make those but did I want to start a new Hobie. Bev said they were easy to make and she sat down and put one together very quickly.

I ended up with the pattern and on the way home Brian and I stopped by and bought some fabric. When we got home I said see you later and off to my room I went. I ended up making two bags for myself and using all the fabric that I bought, so on Saturday off to buy more. I made three more bags and a matching coffee cozie for one that I made of Friday. Now its time to make Christmas gift for my sock knitting friends.

Not much else has been going on. I've been knitting more fingerless gloves and hats. The set I'm working on now is a pair that I will be getting paid for. Cool. That it is for now I can't think of anything else to write. Until next time stay safe, happy and dry. Happy knitting.

Spending Spree

Brian and I have been on a major spending spree. Brian spent money on a new 5th Wheel Trailer and myself what else YARN. A week ago on Friday Brian found a deal we could not pass up. Brian found the trailer that we wanted with the garage in the back so the toys have a room of their own and the rest of the trailer is all ours. Now Brian's elbow can get better so we can camping and riding.

All I bought was more yarn for socks and fingerless gloves. I finished two hats and one pair of fingerless gloves. I've bought more so I can thinking about Christmas gifts. One bad thing has been happening is that my joints in my hands have been hurting. I keep trying to knit through the pain and even typing right now my left hand hurts. I did get my October Woolgirl Sock Club Package and I've already signed up for next year.

I hope you like pictures of our new toy. Until next time happy knitting.

Knitting update

A lot has happen in my knitting world. First I talked about last post Beka's sock. They wear a big hit. I finished them right before I left to go back to Iowa. So I had to start on a new pair. So I looked through my books and found a pattern called the Gentleman's sock out of Knitting Vintage Socks. I used Socks that Rock in Lunasea and I just finished them today. I really like the pattern. It was easy, it did have a 10 row repeat. I just keep the pattern near by just in case I needed it.

I did do one project while I was working on the Gentleman's sock. I knitted myself another hat. I was at Apple Yarns using my birthday gift from my mother-in-law when I saw one of the owners wearing a hat. I asked what pattern did she use and it was out of Knit Simple magazine the eyelet hat. It was a very simple and I was able to knit it up in a 1 1/2 days. I wore it the next day at work and I had three more orders for hats. But first I had to finished my sock. Now that I have that done I'm off working on hats. I already started on the first one. I've got the rib done time to start the rest of the pattern.

I have an idea for Christmas gifts so I have to do some very fast knitting. I've already got the next sock pattern picked out and a pair of fingerless gloves on my list to knit. I think that is it for know off to do some serious knitting. Until next time stay safe and happy knitting.

Oh my its October

Can you believe that it is already October and its the 13 already. Where has the time gone. Well I did things different this year, instead of going to Iowa at the end of the month I went at the begin. I went to visit Deb and to celebrate my birthday with them instead of Halloween.
I took the all-nighter on Wednesday night and I got into Iowa on Thursday morning. We went out to Breakfast then off to Deb's house for a nap. I may have sleep for about 15-30 mins. We had major things to do. Deb and I had to decorate the Haunted Cheesy Game room. Deb cooked a ham and everyone came over for a ham dinner. Lets just say I didn't get any sleep until around 1 or 2 in the morning. Beka arrived around 10 pm I think and I was able to give her, her socks. She was so happy had to put them on right away. Actually she made Nicole put them on her feet.

After seeing Kirsten Jo with her new haircut I decided to cut my hair. Deb made an appointment with the person that cut Jo's hair and I got about 3" cut off. It feels great. I don't need so much shampoo or conditioner. Now Kristina says that we look more alike now.

Every one came over on my birthday to have a birthday drink. Here is a picture of Kirsten Jo with her Appletini aka appletini mix and diet Mt. Dew and myself with my glass of wine. After Nicole got off work, her and Beka came over so I got picture of the three of us.

Oh on the Knitting side of my life there is a lot to tell but I will save that for another posting. All about sock yarn new pair of socks and a new hat that only took 1 day to knit. Until then stay safe and happy knitting.

new project

When Brian and I went to the fair I bought a coffee cozee. The more I looked at it the more I thought to myself I could make them. I went trying to find a pattern but I could not find one. I didn't want to tear apart the one that I bought, but then I did. The green polka dot one was the first one that I made and the two other followed. I keep making them until I figured out what I was doing wrong. By the time I got done with the purple bat I finally figured out what I had been doing wrong so I had to make another one to see if I had figured it out. I decided to make two at once and I did make the proper changes. The next step was the hand sewing them up. By the time I was to my finally two purple bats I had it all figured out. Now its time to go back to the fabric store and buy more. I think I want to get some more Halloween themes and maybe Thanksgiving and Christmas. The fabric that I really want to find is anything in a Knitting theme. Off on a mission to find some.

While Brian and I where out shopping at Target we went past the pet line and on the end cap they had Halloween costumes for pets. I saw one and thought of Mavrick. Brian said that I would never get in on him and he would hate me and he would run away from me when ever I got close. Well when we got home I got Mavrick and put it on him and Brian was some what right. Mavrick did not like it but he is not running from me. Snowball on the other hand does not mind having the chicken hat on. Here is a couple pictures of the two of them. Mavrick sure does hat that hat. But at least he let me have my fun and put it on him and take his picture.
And for the knitting I still going on the second sock. I finally got it cast on the way I like it and I have not made a mistake that I couldn't fix by ripping it.
Until next time stay safe and happy knitting!

Flag Pole

With 9-11 over, we raised the flag to full staff. We add the Navy flag to honor our family members that are either active or retired from the Navy.
Yesterday we sent time putting in new wiring and lights so we can show off the flag at night. One thing we noticed last night is when the wind picks up and the flags start flying, the flood light over the garage comes on and stays on until the wind dies down. So now we are having to play with sensors so we don't get our neighbors mad at us.

We went for a walk this morning and noticed how many flag poles that there are around here, but I think we have the only one that has lights on it.
On the knitting side lets just say rip it, rip it, rip it. Now I'm starting over for the 3rd time.

long time coming

I can't believe that it has been almost a month since I've blogged. Not much has been really going on around here. Last week Brian and I went to the fair. We should never have days off together we end up spending toooo much money. While we were there Brian bought a flag pole and I got a new knitting bag. He was been wanting one for a long time and he keeps looking at them every time we go to the fair so he finally went ahead and bought it. So yesterday Brian poured the concert and set the pole all in time so we could put the flag up 0600 on 9-11.

On the Knitting side. I finally gave the Seahawks sock's of Kindness away yesterday. They were a birthday gift for a co-worker and she loved them. I've heard from flight attendants that she was showing them off and that I might be getting for more pairs. I forgot to get a picture of Cherina and the socks. Maybe she will enjoy them while she watches football on Sunday. As for the pair I'm working on now I've got sock number 1 finally done. I've already cast on for sock number two and I'm working on the cuff. I've already in my mind thinking of what I'm going to do next.

Until next time stay safe and have as much fun as you can.

A first

Brian and I did something that I haven't done since I was a kid and Brian has never done it. We went horse back riding. Our friends in Napevine own horses. Brian was on Q and I was on DeeDee. Scott walked with DeeDee and I as I did the barrels. It was scary at first it felt like I was going to fall off but I didn't. I did start to fell more comfort able towards the end. Then Ann got on Q and showed us how it was really done.

Boy it was hot out there. Not much shade or a breeze. Champs and Gracie had the right idea yesterday and they got in the kiddy pool. I wish I my swim suit on so I could join them.

Not much has been happening on the knitting front. I almost have the second sock done. I hope tomorrow at work I will finally get it done.

Thursday, July 31, 2008

Brian and I were at Costco the other day standing by the Wii stuff talking about something else when an employee came by asking if we were waiting for the Wii fit. Kristina said that she has never seen my head turn around soo fast. Lets just say I had to buy one and Jo and I could not wait until we got back to our house so we could start playing. Here is a video of Jo doing the hula hoop.

On Tuesday our whole family was together for the first time in 12 years. We had the party at Skagit River Woods. The weather did not work for us it rained. We still had fun all together. Here are a few photos of all of us together.

Brian and I had a house full last night. Mark, Deb, Nicole, Beka, and Jo all spent the night and they all left this morning. Now it is just Brian and I in a very quite house. Brian was able to take a nap on the couch and they only one who bothered him was snowball.

another week

I can't believe that Kristina and Jo have been here for a week already. My brother flew in on Monday. I met him at the gate and talked a few minutes, I was the only one in the office that day so I left and went to see him. He didn't make it to my house which was OK I had a house full already, he went up and saw mom and dad. Kristina and Jo headed up there on Tuesday and came back here on Thursday. Friday we all went to Seattle again. This time we made it all the way to the top of the Space Needle. We had a really nice day weather was great. Jo and I had fun trying on different types of sunglasses. We did something that I've always wanted to do. We got into one of the photo booths and took pictures of ourselves it was a big blast and the pics turned out great.

Brian has been great with Jo. When we got home yesterday she wanted to play in the sprinklers so he turned them on in the back yard and sat out there while she ran through them and then she wanted to sit in the hot tub and he let her sit in there to until dinner was ready. Its great seeing them get along

Today my sister from Florida is flying in. Then at 10pm my sister from Iowa is coming in. Now Sunday night is going to busy here. I think I have an idea of were everyone is sleeping. Kristina is going home on Monday and I think the rest of us are heading up to the woods for a big party on Tuesday. That is when everyone will be together for the first time in 12 years. The last time we were all together was when Brian and I got married. WOW!

On the knitting side I've started working on the second sock. Jo wants a pair now. I think before she heads home I will have her pick out some yarn and start working on them next. Its been a very quiet day here. Jo fell asleep on the coach and Kristina and I are sitting here and playing on our computers.

They are here

Kristina and Kirsten Jo showed up on Friday afternoon. Their flight was only an hour late. Which gave me some more time to get the house ready. We stopped by Safeway so Kristina could say hi to Brian and for Jo to met him. Once we got home Jo noticed that we had a hot tub. So I made sure it was warm and off we went to sit in it that night.

Saturday we headed to the Pier in Seattle then tried to go to the Space Needle. Little did I know that there was a Mariners game and the Bite of Seattle was happen that week-end. OOPPSS. We did find parking on the Pier. We went to the Aquarium. It was my first time going also. It was great. Jo got freaked out by a shrimps. Lunch was at Iver's Kristina was happy to have fresh seafood. Then it was off to Pike's Place Market.

After that we were going to go the Space Needle, but trying to find parking and all those people made it hard so off home we went. Dinner then bed. I had to get up this morning at 0300 to start work at 0430. I do it again tomorrow and two days of 1000-2030 and then I'm on VACATION. Deb, Nicole, and Becca arrive on Sunday and Kristina will be leaving on Monday.

On the knitting side nothing is happening. I got one sock done and started working on a cuff but only got 2 rounds done and I have not picked up my needles since.

Viewers beware

I know I should have not taken this picture or even blog about it, but I could not help myself. Maverick, he is so cute showing laying there in his favorite pose.

He just likes lay there under the coffee table all sprawled out for any one can see. He is just laying there right now just like the photo.

I hope everyone is enjoying the sun. Stay cool

A week after the 4th

I can't believe that the 4th of July was here and gone. With our new shift I was able to have it off. I drove up and had the 4th with my family. We had a big dinner spread with BBQ chicken and ribs and all the other fixing that go along with 4th. Bev had to make two strawberry rhubarb pies. She made the first one on Thursday night, I told her it would not last until Friday I was right. She had to come home from work and make another they were other wonderfully good.
Then came the fireworks. I got to help Tony and my dad let them off. We were and trying to light 3 fireworks off at a time. Sometimes we did and most of the time I missed up and did not get mine light in time. I will tell you one thing it was a blast.

On with way home I stop at Apple Yarns. I got to check out their new store. I also had to buy some new yarn. I did get some knitting done while I was up at Mom and Dad's house. Now I have one sock done. I've cast on for the next one but I haven't started knitting it yet. We've been very busy cleaning the house getting ready for family to show up. Kristina and Kirstin will be here in one more week. YIPPY. That is it for now, I will try my hardest to write more later.
