Vacation

Brian and I just got back from vacation at Sand Lake, Or. We got there on Friday before everyone got there. Then everyone showed up and it got very busy until Monday. Then the dunes cleared out and we had the place to ourselves. It was great. We didn't really have to worry about running into anyone. I was wonderful hearing the ocean and going out there to sit and knit and watching the waves. I won't bore you with any more words I will just let the photos talk for

Not much has been happening around here. Just going to work then coming home and knitting. So I won't write much I will just post pictures of what I've been knitting.

These two socks where the ones I started on the way to sock summit and I did a welch heel and normal on foot then the second one I did welch heel and a fitted arch.

The sock above is my socks from that I did for my class Toe up for stubborns. It was fun learning how to do the heel and what I learned in one I was able to remember and do it on the second one.

With the two above done I was able to dive into the new stash. I pulled out a skein from Wool Candy and I'm working on a pattern Queen of Cup. It is knitting up great. Sock #1 is already to the heel flap. I'm making them for a Flight Attendant that was a be supporter in helping me get to Sock Summit.

I'm also working on another pair for myself. No one gets my Mamma Llamma yarn but me. The pattern is embossed leaves out of Favorite sock book. I loved the colorway of this yarn and thought of the pattern would go great. I've got more done but don't have a picture on my computer that shows the pattern better, but OMG it is turning out great.

That is about it. I should sideout so I can go and Knit. So that is it for now. Happy knitting

Gena's Boss's socks

When I went to see my mom on Friday, Bev gave me the socks that she knitted for my boss Ann. When Bev and I started to plan to go to Sock Summit I made a deal with Ann if she would work for me Bev and I would knit her a pair of socks each. Even though Cherina work for me on Sunday Bev and I still knitted a pair of sock for Ann. Today was the day that I gave them to Ann. You can tell by the look on Ann's face that she was very happy.

She loved both pair of socks, but I know the truth she really loved the pair that Bev made her. She said look they have sexy little holes in them. Thanks Bev for making my boss happy.

OMG

I guess that has two means. The first OMG will be I haven't blog since June OMG sorry. The other OMG is all about Sock Summit!!!

Lets just jump in to the heart of it. Last Wednesday Bev and I headed down to Portland on the train to SOCK SUMMIT. It was great just to sit there and knit and not have to worry about the traffic. Once we got there we headed to the hotel to drop off the bags then we went to get registered. Then it was the long wait until Thursday to 4pm until the market place open up for the students. Once it open up it was like Disneyland for me. You would walk all you see is YARN and Fiber. It was like were do you go first. Of course Bev and I had our game plan set and we had we stuck to it, but still it was OMG!

The classes we took were fun. Friday was basic drop spindle, Saturday was sock heel, and Sunday toe up for stubborns. I learned something new from each class and it was great. I've already finished my first two up sock and started the second one also done one of the heels that we learned in class. We got meet one of my favorite Sock designer Cookie A. Here she was signing by book.

I did spend a little to much but I don't regret anything or any purchase that I bought. It was fun we shopped until we dropped. Here are a few pictures from our trip. The loot on the table is Day 1 of shopping and what is in the chair was day number 2 purchases. I can't wait until I finish the socks that are on the needles to dive into the new yarn.
This is Mama Llamma Cathy Kerth she is one of my very favorite dyer. She has the best colorways that I love.

That is it now for now I have to start getting ready for work. I will try to be better at blogging and post more photos from sock summit. Keep those hands knitting.

left my voice in Iowa

I made it back from Deb's house no problem, the only thing was I left my voice there. Lets start from the beginning Wed May 20. I started work at 0915 and I tried for 3 different flights to get to Iowa. I finally decided at 2230 to go home and try again the next morning. I only got two hours of sleep, but I got up and tried the next morning and the only way I got out was (and I very grateful) because a Seattle base flight attendant took the jump seat so I could get on. After that everything went fine.

I had a great visit with Deb and the girls. While I was there we celebrated Kirsten Jo's birthday and also Nicole's. I didn't get to celebrate Beka's graduation and Kristina's birthday it sucks coming home. My allergies acted up on Thursday so by Saturday when it was time for me to come home my voice was gone. Here are some photos from the trip.

Color

Brian and I did it, finally add color to the inside of our house. On Saturday we started by finally picking out colors and trying them on the wall to see what we like. We decided on two different colors and off we went. We started with the ceiling and painted that white and then onto the walls. Here are some pictures of what we did and the colors are Green Tea and Summer Harvest.

In the words of......Stephanie Pearl-McPhee

5 ways that knitting is better than video games.
1. I never, ever have to take turns with my sister.
2. I decide how many points I get and for what.
3. I can do it even if the power goes out.
4. I never lose because I forgot to hit "save" before
I go do something else.
5. If my mother was to come unhinged and scream,
"I cannot stand the infernal sound of your knitting
for one more second," I could pick it up and take
it to my room.

Walk to Empower

Yesterday I did the Mother's Day Breast Cancer walk. I was very happy that the weather was better than last year. I didn't raise as much money as last year but I'm grateful for any and all that I did raise. Here is a few pictures from the walk.

Sand Lake

Last week Brian gave me a choice of either going to Sand Lake, Or or out to Belfair. It was a tough choice do I want to ride in the sand or the dirt. I picked the sand. I thought after not being on my ATV for over a year that it may be easier on my body and remembering how ride the bike. So after work on Thursday, I was lucky to have the early shift Brian had everything loaded we hopped in the truck and off we went. The weather was great on Friday. Here is some photos of Sand Lake.

On the knitting side of my life is going great. Bev and I are planning to go to Sock Summit in Portland in August. The class list just came out so we are trying to decide which classes to take. We are going to take the train down so both of us can knit all the way there. I guess I talk about Sock Summit a lot at work because at Purser meeting (flight attendants) they decided to help me out and take a small collection to help me out. So now I'm making mini socks as a thank you card some of these will be turned into key rings. Sorry no pictures of them yet, but when I get them done I will try my hardest to blog about them.
I need to cut this short shopping, knitting, and chores are calling my name.

Majestic Sock

I just finished with the Majestic sock #1 and started on #2. I received the pattern from the Wool Girl March sock club. It was the first pattern that called to me to do. I didn't use the yarn that it came with I used instead Hazel Knits in Pacific Dk. I've had a lot of compliments on the color by the flight attendants. Here is the finished sock.
Brian has been on vacation this week. He and Tom (are old neighbor) went to Moses Lake. Brian wanted to see how the truck did with pulling the trailer with the new tranny. He said that it did well. They cut the trip short due to the snow in the pass so he did not get as much riding in as he wanted. He found that there is still a few more things he wants to do to the truck. More money. Other than that, that is all that has been going on. Just work and snow mixed with rain. That is it for now. Until next time stay safe and happy.

Micheal

I finally was able do add pictures again. So here are some of my favorite pictures of Micheal.

I hope you enjoy the pictures. I found more I will just have to scan them so I can share more.

Proud Auntie

I'm very proud of my nephew Micheal. He is an Army man. He flew out today for basic train for 5 months. He is off to Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri for Military Police. I sat with him as we waited for them to start boarding. I'm very honor to be the one to see him off. I just can't believe little Micheal is an Army man now. I did bring my camera with me and I did get a picture, like normal I'm not able to down load the picture. When I got home I went through my photos and and I found some of my favorites. Sorry Mom, so when blogger will let me down load pics again I will post them.

As for my knitting its coming along. I finished the monkey socks and I moved on to another. On the running front it has not be going well. I did a run out side and now when I try to go on the tread mill it just not the same and I can't seem to stay on it and run.

Sorry for a short blog, but I wanted to get something written before I get in any more trouble.

I'm a Wooly Girl

I'm soooo happy that I'm officially a Wooly Girl now. Ok for those of you that don't know what that is it just means that I've bought a lot of yarn. Actually I've placed 7 orders with Wool Girl. I thought I had two more orders to go, so to my surprise when I went to the mailbox for bills I had two packages waiting for me. here is what I got for being a Wooly girl. A new bag and what came inside was another sock pattern, notebook, yarn, tape measure, a sample of body butter, and a stitch marker. I should thank a flight attendant for helping me become a Wooly Girl, because if it wasn't for her I would have placed an order. The flight attendants are asking for people to donate baskets for a silent auction and they wanted me to donate a knitted item which I don't have anything for them so I decided to do a sock yarn basket with needles, pattern and a sock bag so this is the yarn that did it. Its Mamma Llama original sock yarn in Pink Lady.

As for my knitting I haven't done much I've gone into a slump. I hope now that I became a Wooly girl I will get inspired to knit.

Until next time stay happy and safe.

My new toy

Our VIP for Onboard Service came today and spent sometime with us. I was asked to come in early because she wanted to meet with the staff. Not knowing what was going to happen I came in early and waited for the meeting to start. I knew that we were going to celebrate someones 30th anniversary. After they did their thing they started on the rest of us. They wanted to thank us for coming in during our snow event and staying in hotels giving up on time with our families so now I'm a proud owner of my own snow shovel. Now watch we won't get any more snow now that I am prepared.

As for my knitting my almost done with my paid knitting job. I'm loving the yarn it is sooo soft. The pattern is easy to. The only problem is that I keep forgetting to pass over a stitch so sometimes I have an extra stitch or two.

I think that is all for now. Until next time stay safe and happy knitting.

Christmas in January

Brian and I drove up to Bellingham yesterday to finally have Christmas with his family. With the weather this year and all of our schedules this was the first time we all could do it and boy was it fog out there coming home it was worse and I tried my hardest to stay awake but get me in a car at night and I will fall asleep. We had a good visit and Brian and I got our normal presents Brian gets his gift card to Jack in the Box and his shop rags. He also got a 6 foot folding table that we will be putting in the trailer. As for myself I got a book of lifesavers plus extra butter rum ones and my last one a 2009 Tinkerbell calender. I also got a set of 7 pairs of pearl earrings in different colors very nice and the new Tinkerbell movie. The also gave us both a $50 gas card.

On to my 2009 goals. The running is coming along. I've made it over the 3 mile mark. I've up the incline to 1 and the speed at times has gone up to 5 mph. I'm still very motivated at doing this. I've set a goal at 5 miles for a week I get to buy some new running clothes so I'm really working on that.

Onto the other goal more Knitting in 2009, well its not doing so good. I'm working on one project that I really need to work on because its a paid job. I'm knitting a hat for someone as a gift. A friend at work has a friend that has a brain tumor and going through chemo and losing all her hair so she asked if I would knit a hat. The sucker that I am said yes. So I'm working on that and as for socks I have a pair that I'm trying to work on but not doing so very good. So I hope today I will get some knitting done.

Well I better go and work on that running goal. I will try and add pictures the next time I'm on here. Until next time stay safe and warm. BRRRRR it cold out there.

2009 Goals

OK I'm going to let everyone know of my 2009 goals I've set for myself. I only have two one is a fun one and the other is a major one that I will need every ones help with.

#1 the fun one:
Knit more
Ha ha. I told every one it was an easy one and it is a fun one for me. OK here is the second one. I'm a little scared to let everyone know, I've very scared that I won't be able to do it. This is why I need every ones help. OK here I go I will just type it, but please don't laugh.....

#2 the Major ONE:
I want to run a 1/2 marathon or just be able to run 13.1 miles. I would love to do a 1/2 marathon, but its just finding the right one to do and one that does not cost an arm and a leg. Right now I'm training on a treadmill do to the time I get up and get home from work it is dark. I'm only at 3 miles and I know once I get out side it will be totally different that 3 miles that I'm so proud of right now will be like 1 mile out on the road. The part I need from you all is support keep asking have you run today or how many miles are you up to. I'm hoping if people keep after me that I will stay at it. I guess we will have to wait and see.

I should sign off so I can get some food in me and hit that treadmill and try for 3.5 miles today. I just hope I won't get to bored running in place. If only I could figure out how to run and knit at the same time that would be great!!!

I will try to blog sooner and maybe it will be more about knitting than my 2009 goals.
