Whidbey Island

On Thursday I got together with some friends and we headed to Whidbey Island. Kelly's family owns a home in walking distance of the water. A few of us met up at Kelly's house and started our ride to the Island. We finally made it on the ferry and then it was a short ride to her family's lake cabin. We walked down to the beach and looked for sea shells and I had to pick some of them up.

It was a great night of good friends, good food, and great wine. We did play a dice game called LRC, and you can play with chips or quarters so we played with quarters. There was 3 four sided dice on each side there was a L, R, C, and a Dot. So if you roll a L, R, and a dot, you pass 1 quarter to the left one to the right and you keep one quarter. If you rolled a C then one goes the middle the big pot. Who ever is the last one with any quarters wins and get the big pot. Guess who won both games....ME. Then they did not want to play any more and they sent me home the next day. I did some knitting down.

Sock Update

Ok here is an update on the sock knitting front. I finished the Horcrux socks right before we left for vacation. So I brought with me two different yarns and patterns. I tried the first one and it did not work so I tried on the second one and it worked. I doing the Monkey sock again , but with a twist. I'm doing it with out the "purl" I'm knitting every stitch. I just finished the first one today.

When I got home on Friday, I had a package waiting for me. The first Wool girl sock club package arrived. The yarn is great, it is one of my favorite yarn too. Mamma Llama. I am so glad that I spend the money and joined. Now I have to wait for two month for the next one and I don't think I can.

Vacation

Brian and I just got back from a weeks vacation. Boy did the time fly by, I can't believe that I have to go back to work tomorrow. On Sunday morning Brian and I loaded up the truck and trailer and headed down to Florence, Oregon to our favorite place "the DUNES". The morning was not the best but by the afternoon the sun was out and the weather was great. Here are some pictures of why we like it down there.

We also went to the World's Largest Sea Lion Caves. It was something I've wanted to do since we started going down there.

Snow in March

Can you believe it Snow in March. While I was at work last night I was receiving phone calls from Flight Attendants asking if it was snowing at the airport and I finally said Yes it was. It didn't stay around but at 10:30 pm when I went to my car and this is what I saw. SNOW !!!! Sorry the picture is so dark. When I got up this morning it was all gone.

I finally finished my elegance sock. They turned out great. As a treat to myself I bought yarn from Hazel Knits. I bought Weekend Warrior, Greenlake, and Chocolatier. Now I just have to find a pattern that will work for them. I did start working on another pair of sock. I started working with Sunshine yarn but it was a dark yarn the pattern that I wanted to do did not work with it. I actually tried another pattern and it didn't work either, So off to a different yarn.

I off I went to my stash and found Mama Llama Bamboo Sock in Caves & Crystals calling my name. I went back to my first pattern that I wanted to do and it is working great. It call Horcrux sock. It is knitting up great that is when I have time to sit and knit.

Twinkleberry

They are done. I mean the Twinkleberry socks. The first one took me a long time. It went with me to Washington DC and also Denver. The pattern was easy to memorize. I finally finish The first sock on Feb 22 on my first day off and I started to work on the second sock the same day. I was able to sit and knit knit and knit all day long. By Monday I finished sock #2. It felt great completing the sock so fast. I think the best part was learning how to do short row heel. I was able to do it with out looking at the direction for the second sock. I love short row heel. No more heel flaps for me. I think its great that every sock that I knit I'm learning something new or just getting better at what I know.
On Monday I start working on another sock. This one is Elegance Sock designed by Anni Design for Sockamania. This one has a cable on each side of the leg. Now I get to figure out how to do a short row heel on this sock. Will come you updated on how the socks comes along.

Valentines Day

Brian and I made it to Washington DC for Valentines Day. I left Wednesday on the all-nighter to Dulles airport. I was in coach middle seat, its not the best for sleeping but I got on. Brian was flying up from Jacksonville, Fl Thursday morning, which his flight had a 2-hour delay. That was ok it gave the day time to warm up. Once we were together we made our way to the the hotel. We took the Washington Flyer to the meter stop and hoped on the meter to Union Station. Our hotel was 2 big blocks from Union Station and about 3 big blocks from the Capital. The weather was great the whole time we were there. If you were in the wind watch out. You will wished you had a hat and mittens. By the afternoon the wind was gone and it was sooo nice to be in the sun. We walked every where. We hit all the tourist spots and had fun. By the end of the day our feet hurt.
On a knitting side. I'm working on Twinkleberry and it called for a short row heel. I was not sure I wanted to do a short row or just do a normal heel that I know how to do. I decided to do the short row heel, so I went to google and looked it up. I found two different sites and found out what I wanted. I did it and love it. I most likely will never do a heel flap again. That is it for now.
